Impact on the Organization

Can there ever be a balance between quality and meeting production goals? Not only can there be – there must be. For a company to operate profitably, it must meet its production goals while also maintaining superior product quality. Today’s most competitive companies have learned how to do both, by giving employees the tools to help set production goals, and empowering them to play a crucial role in setting and
exceeding high quality standards.

Learning Objectives

  • Master a proven process for setting production goals
  • Understand your personal role in meeting both production and quality goals
  • Suggest ways to improve manufacturing processes, productivity, and/or output in order to meet customer needs more effectively

In this module, participants are shown why production goals are important, how they relate to quality, how they relate to staying competitive, and how each participant plays a key role in achieving
them. Participants discuss factors that affect production goals, such as materials or overhead; learn how production goals impact day-to-day operations; and discuss what would motivate them to become more involved in meeting these goals. The tension between quality and production is discussed candidly, and presenters introduce techniques for tracking production and evaluating the results of decisions. Finally, participants review a production problem at their own location, and work together to identify potential solutions.
